The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Spatial Data Infrastructure Strategy 2023-2027

At the proposal of the Council for the Spatial Data Infrastructure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDI FBIH) and the coordination body of the SDI FBIH, the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs, the Government of the FBIH at its session on December 12, 2023 adopted the Federal sectoral strategic document „ Spatial Data Infrastructure Strategy of FBIH for the period 2023-2027“.

The aforementioned Strategy is an integrated, multi-sector strategic document that represents a new initiative in the FBIH public sector and is a part of strategic approach of the European initiative that connects the spatial data infrastructures. The “Spatial Data Infrastructure Strategy of FBIH for the period 2023-2027“defines priority goals, projects and activities that will contribute to the improvement and further development of the FBIH Spatial Data Infrastructure and fulfilling the EU directive requirements, and the main purpose is to create assumptions for servicing of the FBIH spatial data on the territory of FBiH, BIH and the wider region, all in accordance with the EU trends and directives.

The SDI FBIH represents the basis for collecting, organization and providing spatial information on which decisions are based regarding infrastructure development, environmental protection, cadastre, as well as planning the sustainable economy. The Government of the FBIH adopted the “Spatial Data Infrastructure Strategy of FBIH for the period 2023-2027“to ensure a coordinated approach to collection and spatial data exchange between different sectors and government levels. This is crucial for improving of public services efficiency, encouraging investments, and supporting sustainable development.

The holder of the “Spatial Data Infrastructure Strategy of FBIH for the period 2023-2027“is the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs and Council of the SDI FBIH in accordance with the Law on Spatial Data Infrastructure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Law on Developmental Planning and Managing Development in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Regulation on creation of FBIH Strategic documents. The participants in this process were institutions, all public authorities entrusted with the spatial data managing, in accordance with the Law on Spatial Data Infrastructure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The strategy will be implemented through three-year and annual work plans, the Budget, as well as the Public Investment Program. In this sense the “Spatial Data Infrastructure Strategy of FBIH for the period 2023-2027“, is harmonized with the overall planning system.

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina submits the Strategy document to the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the Law on Developmental Planning and Managing Development in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
