From May 18 to 20, 2025, the regular General Assembly of EuroGeographics was held in Riga, Latvia. EuroGeographics is an association that brings together mapping, cadastral, and land registration authorities from across Europe. This year's assembly was hosted by the Latvian Geospatial Information Agency (Latvijas Ģeotelpiskās informācijas aģentūra), with institutional support from the State Land Service.
A special feature of this year's Assembly was the celebration of a milestone—25 years of EuroGeographics' existence and activities. To mark this occasion, a formal reception was held on the first day, followed by a gala dinner at the prestigious House of the Blackheads, and a concluding cultural evening and gathering at the Riga Botanical Garden.
The Assembly brought together over 120 leaders and experts from 40 countries and 46 member organizations of the association. The program was thematically focused under the title: “Overcoming Challenges for a Safer Future,” included a series of lectures, thematic sessions, and interactive discussions.
During the three-day program, key topics in the field of geospatial data were covered, including:
Numerous high-ranking representatives of host institutions and international partners addressed the assembly, including Latvia’s Minister of Defense, Mr. Andris Sprūds, representatives from the European Commission, Eurostat, the European Space Agency (ESA), the World Meteorological Organization, as well as former and current leaders of EuroGeographics.
Director Željko Obradović and Assistant Director Denis Tabučić participated in the General Assembly representing the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs, a full member of EuroGeographics. Involvement at the Conference continues the Administration's engagement in European networks and regional initiatives that contribute to the improvement of spatial data infrastructure and strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina’s international cooperation in this field.
